The Métabetchouane from Yesterday to Today

During your visit of the Métabetchouane history and archaeology centre, you will discover the history of this river and that of its inhabitants, from the Natives to nowadays. The archaeological part of the visit will teach you about the findings made on the prehistoric site DcEx-1. You will also find a replica of an 1840 trading post.

Your visit of the thematic exhibition will teach you more about the importance of the “coureurs des bois”, the travellers and the trading post clerks. a former powder magazine, now listed on the historic monument register, can also be visited on the site. Do not miss a stop at the chapel, in which you will discover the different religious communities that establishes in the region.
