A Tribute to Our Ancestors

In September 1963, priest Jules Lamy takes hold of the Sainte-Croix cure. He was a great collector, numismatist and philatelist and managed to acquire objects and artefacts in order to avoid the rural exodus of these heritage items. With the collaboration of young students, the priest Lamy erected in 1968 the Musée Lac-à-la-Croix where our parents' past is still present. The charity and generosity of the village residents have allowed the building-up of close to 4000 objects representing the rural and agricultural heritage of Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean.

In 1997, Centre d'interprétation de l'agriculture et de la ruralité takes over. The CIAR, a not-for-profit organisation, has the mission of developing and spreading the rural and agricultural heritage of Saguenay – Lac-Saint-Jean, a crucial sector of human activity.

Educational Farm
The CIAR has set up a different visit of the farm inside its program. Managed by the CRDI, the educational farm helps the social integration of people with learning disabilities or autism spectrum disorder by making them participate in the works and activities of guided tours. For these people, the farm represents a stimulating place of learning which allow them to acquire new knowledge, overcome challenges and take part in the community life to reach their full potential. A visit to the educational farm gives you the chance to get acquainted with animal diversity and will make you better understand people living with a disability.
