Desbiens

In Desbiens, the Métabetchouane River is a unique wildlife and recreational area. You will have access to two landing stages to go fishing or canoeing, kayaking and rafting down the river. A panoramic trail will lead you to the Caverne Trou de la Fée, a 68 meter-long granite cave. In addition to participating in speleology activities, you will also have the chance to visit the remnants of the hydroelectric power plant.

Then visit the Métabetchouane history and archaeology centre where you will find a reconstitution of the fur trade post owned by the Hudson Bay Company and built in the 1840s. You can also admire the works of Amerindians from all communities at the thematic exhibition that presents a collection of 40 pairs of snowshoes, or visit the powder magazine, which is on the historical register, as well as the monument dedicated to Jean de Quen and the chapel.
