Come enjoy your day at the Village historique de Val-Jalbert and dive into the industrial past of the region. This village enjoyed an economical boom after the construction of the pulp factory at the beginning of the 20th century. Many workers settled in the village, but they had to leave in 1927 when the factory closed. The village quickly became deserted.
Nowadays, costumed guides make you relive those years during a guided tour of the main buildings of the village: the mill, the general store and the abandoned houses. On the site, you will also find the Ouiatchouan waterfall, which is very impressive. Visitors who do never miss a thing will see the shape of the province of Quebec in the waterfall!
Take advantage of the paths leading to great belvederes from where the view is exceptional. Everyday around 4:30 p.m. in front of the general store, all the characters of the village gather to offer visitors a theatrical performance.
